“Faith that remains”

This painting was born from a moment that held no sense of security, no answers, not even stability, but the opposite, something was falling apart, something was no longer holding, and all that remained was one quiet question, do I stay even when everything is unknown and I have no proof

Because faith, for me, no longer feels like something elevated or beautiful to say, it’s not a slogan or a positive thought, it’s a choice, often an uncomfortable one, to stay even when I have nothing to lean on, even when I receive no sign from the outside that anything is working out

There are moments when faith is tested דווקא when it doesn’t reward me, when it doesn’t bring immediate relief, when it doesn’t organize reality, and that’s where its truth is revealed, is it dependent on what’s happening to me, or is it something I hold from within even without proof

When I started working on this painting, I felt it in my body, there was no instant connection, no smooth flow, there were moments of doubt, a desire to stop, to change direction, maybe even to give up, but something in me chose to stay, not because I knew where it was going, but because I didn’t want to abandon myself within it

Slowly, I began to understand that faith is not knowing everything will be okay, but the ability to not disconnect from myself even when things don’t fall into place, to not lose connection with my inner space even when the outside is loud, even when the heart wavers

There are places in this painting that were not “closed,” not resolved perfectly, and they remained that way intentionally, because true faith does not require closure, it knows how to hold what is open, what is unresolved, what is still unfolding

“Faith That Remains” is a painting about the moment I stop searching for proof and begin to stay, about a kind of faith that doesn’t come to change reality, but to allow me to meet it without running away
