The Story Behind the Painting
Most of our lives we are busy meeting the world through layers of defense, paying a heavy price to build ourselves a strong shield that protects us from turmoil, disappointments, or inner judgment, but over time this shield turns from a durable armor into a quiet prison and disconnects us from our true vitality.
This artwork was born from a moment of agreeing to set defenses aside. True inner work is not an attempt to fix ourselves or fight who we are, but the willingness to gently peel away what is unnecessary and agree to meet the simple truth that lies beneath.
The soft pink and bright yellow on the canvas were chosen to reflect this dynamic. The pink brings with it the softness and compassion required in the process, serving as the safe space that allows us to let go, heal old wounds, and allow the heart to open again. In contrast, the bright yellow is the inner light, strength, and vitality that already exist within us, asking to burst out the moment we stop hiding them.
During the painting process, exploring textures and layers on the canvas reflected this discovery. The physical work was not about building something new, but about revealing what was already there beneath the paint, a process of deep listening where every touch of texture and brush required me to stay in the moment and allow inner truth to lead.
