There are places within us we rarely visit.
Quiet spaces, ambiguous zones where it’s hard to tell what exactly lives there —
a memory? a feeling? a sound? a fear?
This painting was born from observing those spaces.
It’s a gaze into what unfolds between the shadows —
not in blinding light, and not in complete darkness,
but in that in-between place where things slowly begin to reveal themselves.
During a time of deep emotional processing,
I found myself returning again and again to the idea that fear is not an enemy —
it’s a guide.
It shows us the places we haven’t yet dared to look.
And when we are brave enough to stay there — in the shadows,
without rushing to escape, without turning on the light —
we discover something new.
We find that sometimes, it’s there where the dawn begins.
This painting is a reflection of that journey —
a quiet, intimate path into parts of myself I hadn’t yet dared to truly meet.
The blurs and undefined lines, the layered textures —
they express a soul trying to break apart, understand, and gently let go.
The deep greens, the smoky greys, the hints of red —
they are emotional symbols of what was moving through me during the process:
fear, pain, courage, and realization.
"Between the Shadows" is not a place of escape —
it’s the place where we meet ourselves without masks.
It’s where we can finally ask:
What is pain trying to teach me? What is fear trying to heal?
And there, through deep listening, transformation begins.
This is not just a visual work —
it’s a mirror of a process.
A dialogue between inner parts, a search for what can’t be spoken — but can be felt.
It’s a reminder that facing our fear is one of the most powerful ways to grow, to evolve,
and to come closer to who we truly are.
