Original painting by the artist Shirly Maimon.
The canvas was ready, my hands held the colors
but there was one color that insisted on taking the lead: turquoise.
It immediately claimed center stage, spreading across the surface like a deep sea, constantly shifting its mood.
I knew this wouldn’t be a typical painting.
It was a journey through states — emotions, thoughts, internal processes — all blending and unfolding in layered colors.
Turquoise, for me, represented the transitions between different inner states.
At times, it was soft and pale, almost translucent — like moments of calm and peace.
Other times, it grew darker, deeper, like a vast emotional depth not always easy to dive into.
And yet, turquoise held everything together
it carried a sense of ongoing movement, like waves rising and falling.
It symbolized emotional shifts — sometimes tranquil, sometimes stormy — but always present.
The abstract forms connected in unexpected ways,
just like life itself — uncontrollable, full of surprises and transitions.
This painting tells a story of changing inner landscapes —
moments of strength and tenderness, anger and joy, stillness and turbulence.
Every color, every shape in this work is part of that journey —
a reflection of the human experience.
And turquoise is the thread that weaves it all together in abstract harmony.
