"Between Sky and Water"

Between sky and water there is no border. Only a thin line we draw so we can feel there is order. A line of habit, of a thought that wants to lean on the familiar. While painting, I watched that line melt before my eyes. Layers of deep blue, hints of gray, and a fine light seep into one another until it’s no longer clear where one begins and the other ends.

So it is with consciousness—we’re used to separating “inside” from “outside,” who we tell ourselves we are from what is actually unfolding. But when I breathe into the gaze, the borders soften. Memories surface, feelings touch, and the mind loosens its grip. Every layer of color becomes a layer of time; every texture marks a small path on the map of the heart.

As I worked, I let the hand walk ahead of me. I didn’t control—I listened. At times a crack appeared; at times a free spill of color that mended everything. That’s the moment when looking becomes quiet, and the quiet opens a space wider than I imagined. Not an outer landscape, but an inner expanse opening—like a breath that widens and stays.

And in the end, standing before the thin line crossing the canvas, I understand it’s only an invitation: to gently shift the place where I’m used to stopping, and allow connection to happen. Between sky and water there is no real partition—there is one continuous movement that reminds me to choose softness over struggle, presence over fear.

This painting is an invitation to lay down the separations, to breathe deeply, to listen to what already lives within—and to let the heart lead.
