"Awakening" - Original painting by Shirly Maimon
The Story Behind the Painting
For years we walk through the world feeling as if we must hold everything together, managing schedules, building defenses, trying to control outcomes, and ensuring everything stays exactly where we planned. It is a race happening inside our heads, heavy with scenarios, expectations, and the constant fear that something will fall apart if we only let go for a minute.
This piece was born in a moment of sudden awakening from this pattern. Out of nowhere, during a simple walk in nature, something inside me paused. I looked around and saw how the earth and the trees simply existed there.
Nature doesn't fight to exist, it doesn't try to prove anything, and it doesn't manage tomorrow. Everything inside it happens through an internal, natural, and whole rhythm.
In that moment, I understood the depth of the surrender I was asked to make: to stop striving to be in control.
Awakening is not a dramatic process, but a willingness to meet reality as it is, to lay down old thoughts, and to discover that beneath all the weight we carried, a steady, deep quiet was always waiting for us.
On the canvas, every touch of color and every revealed layer became the new rules written from within me at that moment: less planning, more presence.
This artwork invites you to pause the internal race, look at life with open eyes, and agree to let go. It is a daily reminder that true freedom begins the moment we stop managing the world and simply agree to be ♡
