"Meeting of the Hearts"
Meeting of the Hearts - Original painting by Shirly Maimon
When I began working on this painting, I knew it was meant for Nofar and Itzik’s home, but very quickly I felt I was touching something much broader—the essence of what “home” truly means. From the very first layer, as the colors spread across the canvas, a quiet presence emerged, as if I were laying the foundation for an inner sanctuary.
Throughout the process I reflected on family as a gathering of unique hearts—each one reaching to come closer, to be heard, to lean on one another. With every brushstroke came thoughts of mutual respect, the courage to create freedom and togetherness in the same space, and the living communication that binds everyone.
The turquoise became a symbol of openness and boundless freedom, while touches of yellow shimmered like rays of light, reminders that each family member brings their own unique brilliance. Free, flowing lines appeared almost on their own—like an ongoing conversation holding all the parts together.
This painting became more than a portrait of a family; it also reflected my own journey as an artist—to listen, to release control, and to allow something larger to unfold. Each layer reminded me that, just as in family life, we must make room, trust the process, and let the story reveal itself.
“Meeting of the Hearts” is an invitation to a home that feels open and luminous—a space of love, respect, freedom, and self-realization, where hearts meet and create a story greater than the sum of its parts.
This painting is an invitation to live with an open heart. To remember that the space we call home can reflect more than how things look — it can hold how we want to feel, deep inside.
