The Story Behind the Painting

The painting “Listening” was created from a desire to explore the depth of human interaction and the quiet power of presence. The two figures depicted represent different aspects of emotional experience: one with her eyes closed, and the other fully listening.

The figure with closed eyes symbolizes turning inward—a moment of self-connection, reflection, and inner stillness. She draws strength from the silence around her, touching her deepest emotions, opening herself to acceptance. Her closed gaze toward the outer world conveys inner strength—a connection to her own thoughts and feelings.

In contrast, the listening figure represents understanding, curiosity, and the wish to truly hear and comprehend the world around her. Her role is like a mirror—offering space for the other to express without judgment or interruption.

The palette I chose is made up of soft, calming tones, intended to evoke a sense of serenity and connection. The lines are fluid and delicate, emphasizing body language, presence, and the chemistry between the two figures.

For me, listening is not just an action—it’s a profound experience. It creates connection between people, strengthens human bonds, and opens a path for shared growth. This painting is a reflection on the importance of listening, both in inner dialogue and interpersonal relationships—a reminder of how essential it is for meaningful, healthy connection.
