"Recalculate" - Original painting by Shirly Maimon

The Story Behind the Painting

What happens when we allow ourselves to rethink everything?

When I began this painting, I wasn’t looking for a clear answer.
I wanted to let the thoughts unravel, scatter, and find their way again —
without planning where they would lead.
This piece was born from a place of change —
a moment when something we believed in, something we saw as certain, suddenly begins to shift.

It’s that moment when we realize that the way we’ve been looking at the world can change —
and with it, a new kind of growth can emerge.

Textures and colors blend together in a constant flow of experimentation, release, and becoming.
Just like the personal processes we go through —
thoughts breaking down and rebuilding,
beliefs dissolving to make space for deeper insights,
paths branching out in directions we never expected.

The soft tones in the background represent the familiar —
the safe space before transformation.
Above them, wild lines and bold colors erupt with energy —
exploration, courage, and renewal.
It’s a dialogue between order and chaos, between the known and the unknown,
between who we were and who we allow ourselves to become.

This painting isn’t just something to observe — it’s something to feel.
It speaks to the courage to ask questions, to dismantle old truths,
and to let something new enter.

It’s a reminder that change isn’t something to fear —
it’s often the force that leads us to places we never imagined.

“Rethink” is more than a title.
It’s a way of living.
